On behalf of our client, a global institutional alternative asset management firm with a location in Zug, Switzerland, we are seeking immediately or by arrangement a General Counsel. The job description reads as follows (with minor adjustments from us):
Responsibilities
Advise the group’s business area Litigation Investing on all legal, regulatory and compliance matters
Oversee all legal & compliance aspects of the claims acquisition and contracting process
Assist in tax matters and act as Corporate Secretary for various internal Boards
Lead the preparation and review of commercial documentations, e.g., preparation of term sheets with potential partners, cooperation agreements, financing documentation, and investment agreements
Select, instruct, manage and monitor external commercial and litigation lawyers and other consultants, e.g., regarding the investment and litigation structuring and strategy
Assess, jointly with the deal team, new investment opportunities
Requirements
Master of Law from a US or European university and bar exam is a must; additional degrees would be a plus
5 to 10 years‘ professional experience, of which at least (i) 5 years in a tier 1 international law firm and/or (ii) 5 years as senior legal counsel in a commercial environment
Substantial experience in legal capacity managing or assisting in financial investments; business experience is a plus
Fluency in English as well as in either of German, French or Spanish (both at least level C1)
EU/EFTA citizenship; residency in the Zürich/Zug area
